Confidential Adult Treatment Program
The facilities and programs at the Vince Carter Sanctuary are extremely private and confidential. Clients and their families can be assured of the importance we place on their confidentiality. We adhere to all Federal regulations concerning client confidentiality. In addition, strict internal controls and policies are maintained concerning confidentiality. We simply cannot and will not disclose any information about your treatment without your prior written consent.
Medical & Clinical Evaluation
Upon check in at the Vince Carter Sanctuary, clients are evaluated both medically and clinically, then assigned to a primary therapist who will guide and support them through the course of their treatment.

Detox - In-Patient & Out-Patient
Some clients may need to be medically detoxed. A safe, medically monitored detox is a fundamental component of any treatment program, especially during withdrawal when battling the physical dependency associated with many drugs - particularly alcohol and opiates.
Some clients may be in need of certain medications for their detox. Medications, including Burenorphine (Suboxone® or Subutex®) and Vivitrol®, may be prescribed by one of our certified physicians. An ideal detox program is tailored to fit the client's specific needs. With decades of experience in helping people detox safely off of drugs and alcohol, our detox team is composed of highly competent health care professionals with a proven track record of success.
Addiction Research
By having the University of Florida McKnight Brain Institute (UF-MBI) Addiction Research Center onsite, under the direction of Dr. Mark Gold and Dr. Sarah Jo Nixon, we are able to offer our clients highly cutting-edge treatment.
Treatment Programs
We offer the latest in medical and clinical interventions and therapies, individualized to the needs of each person. Our programs effectively care for our individual clients by using the latest treatment methods, in conjunction with time tested rehabilitation programs and a state-of-the-art AFTERCARE PROGRAM.
Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)
MET is a systematic intervention approach for evoking change. It is designed to produce rapid, internally-motivated change in an individual utilizing the person's own internal change resources.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapies
The focus of cognitive behavioral therapy is on altering the thinking processes and behaviors of substance users that lead to substance abuse. Counseling strategies are used to intervene and to help the individual deal successfully with acute or chronic drug craving. This is accomplished by promoting and reinforcing the development of social skills and behaviors compatible with remaining drug free.

One remarkable therapeutic program offered to our clients is the Dolphin Encounter at nearby Marineland. This is a brand new program being piloted at the Vince Carter Sanctuary for addiction treatment called cetacean therapy, where our clients are given the opportunity to swim with dolphins and interact with dolphins, which is something that promises to be a truly life changing experience for many decide to take part in this new program.

Drug and Alcohol Treatment at the Vince Carter Sanctuary is highly individualized.
Our clients benefit from personalized care, individual and group counseling, support programs, experiential therapy, and our effective family program. All these offer a solid foundation for discovering a successful means of recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
The Vince Carter Sanctuary is foundationally a 12-step based program.
The 12-step treatment modality created by Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and adopted by other fellowships such as Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Cocaine Anonymous (CA), provides both a foundation and a constant support for recovery. It has helped millions find lasting recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.
At the Vince Carter Sanctuary, we use the 12-step program to assist our clients through the recovery process. We incorporate step work into each addiction treatment plan. Step work, a framework for a recovery lifestyle, continues as the client moves through treatment at the Vince Carter Sanctaury, and is a major component of our AFTERCARE PROGRAM.
We also offer and encourage those clients whom may have a particular faith to incorporate their personal faith into their 12-step recovery plan. Depending on the individual client's faith, he or she will have the opportunity to attend religious services each week.
Drug & Alcohol Treatment Team
Clients are evaluated weekly by their Treatment Team, consisting of their individual Therapist or Clinician, Recovery Coach, Physician, Nurse, Assessment Therapist, Activities Therapist, Coordinator of Intake-Intervention & Aftercare, perhaps their Psychiatrist for clients with co-occurring/dual-diagnosis issues, and the Program Director.
