The Vince Carter Sanctuary is the newest, most modern and advanced adult drug and alcohol addiction recovery center.
Located in scenic and rural Flagler County Florida, about 20 miles north of Daytona Beach, the Vince Carter Sanctuary is a new $8 million detoxification, substance abuse and co-occurring (dual diagnosis) residential treatment facility designed and built specifically for this purpose.
Though our facility is new, we are not new to helping those struggling with substance abuse to reclaim their lives. As a division of the Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare System, we have decades of agency experience in the delivery of substance abuse and mental health care.
The new treatment center was designed by the renowned Ginn Resort Development team, and the architectural firm of Glover, Smith, and Bode (GSB) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. GSB had also designed Caesar’s Palace & coliseum, Cirque Du Soleil, and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Exhibit Hall…
Upon check in at the Vince Carter Sanctuary, clients are evaluated both medically and clinically, and then assigned to a primary therapist who will guide and support them through the course of their treatment. Medication management, psychological testing and psychiatric evaluation and treatment are available when indicated.
Substance abuse treatment at the Vince Carter Sanctuary is highly individualized. Our clients benefit from personalized care, individual and group counseling, support programs, experiential therapy, and our effective family program. All these offer a solid foundation for discovering a successful means of recovery from substance abuse addiction.
Our counseling programs focus on many areas of a person's life, ranging from psychological and emotional issues, social and family relationships, personal and professional goals, health and fitness, diet and nutrition, spirituality, and life stressors, to independent living skills.
The Vince Carter Sanctuary is foundationally a 12-step and abstinence based program. We also offer and encourage those clients who may have a particular faith to incorporate their personal faith into their 12-step recovery plan. Depending on the individual client's faith, he or she will have the opportunity to attend religious services each week.
Treatment plans are evaluated on a regular basis by each client's recovery team. Recovery teams primarily consist of the client's primary therapist, family therapist, activities therapist, physician, case manager, aftercare planner, and the program director. This way we are able to offer each client the maximum benefit from their treatment experience.
Co-Occurring (Dual Diagnosis) Treatment
With our available Mental Health Services, individuals with co-occurring issues, perhaps as a result of some form of traumatic event, or those having a mental illness along with substance abuse, are offered a variety of additional services including psychiatric evaluation and medication management, nursing services, therapy and case management.
Addiction is a mental health issue. Many people caught in the grip of addiction also battle other issues, such as depression, anxieties, and other disorders.
The Vince Carter Sanctuary is a residential treatment center, where clinical and psychiatric experts are trained to correctly diagnose and meet the unique needs of patients distressed from the combination of substance abuse and a co-occurring emotional or mental illness.
Once a client has been detoxed and stabilized, detailed assessments are performed to confirm the nature of the co-occurring issues to ensure the correct combination of therapies. These therapies are then employed in the treatment process of that particular client.
At the end of treatment, our clinical team works with these individual clients to develop a comprehensive exit plan to receive ongoing support.
